Datu Harana & Ariara Island Palawan Expedition 6 Days
Six days away from mass tourism, deep into the islands, lagoons, and hidden coastlines of Northern Palawan. Guests spend three nights aboard Datu Harana, cruising far beyond Coron’s well-known circuit, before arriving at Ariara Private Island for two nights of secluded island living. With only seven rooms available across the journey, this is Palawan experienced at its most exclusive — far from the crowds, and closer to the parts of the Calamianes most travelers never reach. The expedition concludes with arrival at Dipnay, and onward to El Nido.

Description
There are two ways to see Northern Palawan. One is the well-worn circuit — the same lagoons, the same day-boats, the same handful of islands every itinerary visits in the same order. The other is a six-day journey combining four days aboard a purpose-built expedition vessel with two nights at a private island that welcomes only one group at a time, moving beyond traditional routes and crowded camps to anchor in places most travelers never reach.
The journey begins in the Busuanga island group, far past Coron's usual limits, where the wrecks of a sunken WWII Japanese fleet lie reclaimed by coral at Lusong Wreck and Coral Bay — among the finest snorkeling anywhere in the Calamianes. From there, Datu Harana threads north past Black Island's hidden cave and natural pool, the quiet shores of Debotunay, and a sunset at Pass Island, before the second day turns toward the region's most iconic waters: the emerald stillness of Kayangan Lake, the swim-through walls of Pukaway Cave, Blue Lagoon, and an afternoon at Smith Coral Bay. Two sunsets close the day — one at Pusod Lagoon, rented privately for the group alone, and a second at BBH Beach.
The third day is where the itinerary stops resembling anyone else's. Twin Lagoon's two pools of contrasting color, joined by a narrow limestone passage; a little-visited swim-through at Secret Cave; a stop in a local fisherman's village, untouched by the tourist trail; and Harana Secret Beach, a hidden stretch of sand between limestone cliffs reserved only for LXV and Harana guests. The day ends at Malcapuya Island, one of the most photographed beaches in the country, before the vessel turns south the following morning through Culion and the Linapacan island group — via the Ditaytayan sandbar, a visit to Canipo Village, and an afternoon at Araw Beach — arriving by boat at Ariara Private Island for the first of two nights ashore.
At Ariara, the pace changes entirely. Eleven beachfront villas across 125 private acres, a resident chef cooking with locally-sourced ingredients, an infinity pool overlooking turquoise water, and a full day with nothing on the agenda but the resort's own kayaks, paddleboards, and reef just offshore — with scuba diving, e-foiling, and guided excursions on hand for anyone who wants more. The expedition closes on the sixth morning with a final breakfast and lunch at Ariara, before a three-hour bangka crossing to Dipnay Pier and an air-conditioned van transfer on to El Nido.
Only seven rooms travel the whole journey — a maximum of 14 guests per departure — so what begins as an expedition and ends as a private island retreat never once feels like anything other than exactly that: entirely yours.

AAppendix: Expedition & Vessel Guide
Datu Harana is our flagship — a traditional Filipino bangka, purpose-built to reach the parts of Northern Palawan most travellers never see. She's the vessel behind every Datu Harana departure, whether you're aboard for two nights or five.
Life aboard & vessel amenities
Each cabin is private, air-conditioned and fitted with its own en-suite bathroom. WiFi is powered by Starlink. Water toys include kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling gear and, on select departures, underwater cameras/scooters. Showers are lukewarm-water only to conserve electricity and fresh water. Power outlets are 230V/60Hz (high-wattage items over 1000W such as hair dryers are prohibited).
A dedicated chef and kitchen crew handle full-board dining, buffet-style. Daily housekeeping is provided, with bed sheets changed every 3 days.
Exact cabin counts and layouts are refined as the fleet evolves — your booking confirmation will always show the specific room type and capacity.
Air conditioning on Datu Harana
Datu Harana is still being completed, and getting the full electrical load and air-conditioning system running reliably has been a genuine engineering challenge. The full AC system has been purchased and we're doing everything possible to keep it running, but guests should go in accepting that it may occasionally be out of service. If this happens, we'll refund 15% of the trip price for a Datu Harana–only booking, or 10% for a combined trip with Ariara. Every room also has a fan installed as a backup.
Itineraries & destinations
Itineraries cover Coron's iconic lakes and lagoons (Kayangan Lake, Pukaway Cave, Twin Lagoon) as well as the Linapacan and West Busuanga island groups (Debotunay, Black Island, Ditaytayan sandbar). Routes, schedules and specific stops remain subject to alteration without prior notice based on weather or maritime conditions.

4Resort Policies & Estate Guidelines
4.1 Check-in / check-out
Guests whose bookings are paid in full in advance may check in their rooms at the Ariara private island from 3:00 PM; check-out is 11:00 AM on departure day. A no-show does not extend your booked dates unless arranged in advance and subject to availability. Guests will be able to stay on the island before or after their scheduled transfer to the mainland.
4.2 Gratuities
Tips can be left in cash in the Tips Box at The Lodge, or added to your card on request. Tips are entirely at your discretion and shared equally among the Ariara team.
4.3 Connectivity
Starlink WiFi covers the island; Smart mobile signal is intermittent and generally reachable by the pool, pier or Pier Cabana only (no Globe coverage) — WhatsApp over Starlink is the reliable option for calls.
4.4 Safety & insurance
Bring sufficient prescription medication for your stay. First aid and non-specialist care are available locally; guests are strongly advised to carry travel insurance covering airlift medical evacuation to Manila, and cancelled/delayed flights or other travel. Ariara is not responsible for lost or stolen items (in-room safes are provided) or for extra costs from missed connections or weather delays en route to embarkation.
4.5 Damage or loss
Guests are financially responsible for damage or loss to boats, water sports equipment, villas and their contents (including towels), or other Ariara property, chargeable to the card on file.

How many powered boats are there?
A 43ft Lagoon motor yacht, a 33ft speedboat (300hp), a 4.2m RIB (40hp), a 3.15m RIB (30hp), a 3.1m RIB (30hp), a 3.1m aluminium boat (30hp), and a 2.9m RIB (15hp) — different boats suit different activities.
Any non-motorised watercraft?

What if I get sick during my stay?

How do I reach the staff at night?
Message the Ariara WhatsApp number if no staff member is nearby.
Can I extend my stay?
Possibly, if you're on a private expedition and your onward travel plans and room availability both allow it. Message LXV Customer Care to confirm room availability and pricing.
If I cancel a paid activity, do I get a refund?
Yes — the transaction can be reversed.
Is there a laundry service?
Yes. Leave laundry in your room's basket before 6pm on arrival day; it's returned within 24 hours and charged to guests at check-out. (Not available for one-night stays.)
I'm vegetarian — how does Ariara cope?
All meals include vegetarian options.
Can you cater to vegan, fruitarian, kosher, keto, paleo or other restrictive diets?
Not currently — Ariara is unable to accommodate special diets.
